KOSPI Surpasses 9,300, Breaks Intraday Record High

The KOSPI opened higher on the 19th, rising over 2% driven by a surge in semiconductor stocks on the New York market overnight, and broke past the 9,300 level in early trading. This renewed the index's intraday record high, just a day after it first surpassed the 9,000 mark. According to the Korea Exchange, the KOSPI index opened at 9,288.89, up 225.05 points (2.48%) from the previous trading day. This upward momentum continued after the opening bell, with the index reaching 9,306.58 as of 9:07 AM, up 2.68%.

Large-cap semiconductor stocks led the index's ascent. As of 9:07 AM, SK Hynix was trading at 2,840,000 won, a jump of 5.77% from the previous trading day, marking the first time it surpassed 2.8 million won intraday. Samsung Electronics was also trading at 71,500 won, up 2.48% at the same time.

The KOSDAQ index opened at 1,001.40, up 0.47 points (0.05%) from the previous session, remaining largely flat. In the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate opened at 1,537.4 won, up 10.3 won from the previous trading day.
