June 19 Employment Report: Luxury Beauty & Jewelry Hiring Surges, Manufacturing Sector Faces Competition for US Assignments

Luxury Beauty & Jewelry Sector Sees Clear Trend of Expanding Offline Hiring

As of June 2026, the recruitment market is observing a notable increase in demand for department store sales positions within high-end beauty, fragrance, and jewelry brands. Among the recruitment notices from 64 companies tallied, numerous openings were for offline sales roles at international luxury brands such as BYREDO, TOM FORD, and Tiffany & Co. While most of these positions are concentrated in the Seoul Metropolitan Area, including Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, there are also recruitments for assistant managers and sales associates targeting department stores in non-metropolitan hubs like Daegu and Busan, indicating an expansion trend across regions.

This phenomenon is closely linked to the recovery in offline consumption following the end of the pandemic. Given the luxury market's emphasis on in-store experiences over online channels, securing face-to-face sales personnel has become a key challenge for brand operations. Particularly in the fragrance and cosmetics categories, where experiential purchases are high, the expertise of sales professionals directly impacts revenue, suggesting that demand for these roles is likely to continue.

Chemicals & Manufacturing Sector Joins Global Talent Competition with US-Based Roles

Another significant trend observed in recruitment data is the hiring for US-based positions in the chemical and manufacturing sectors. Detailed overseas assignment opportunities, categorized by position level such as QA (Assistant Manager to Manager level), manufacturing equipment (Assistant Manager to Manager level), and production management (Manager to Deputy General Manager level), have been simultaneously announced, often linked to mid-tier group affiliates. A distinctive feature is the demand for personnel across QA, equipment, and management, rather than just simple technical roles.

This can be interpreted as an effort by domestic manufacturing companies to expand their production bases in the United States or strengthen the capabilities of their existing overseas subsidiaries. In line with the US policy trend of reshoring manufacturing, Korean mid-tier companies appear to be adopting a strategy to deploy stable operational staff locally. The broad range of experience sought, from Assistant Manager to Manager level, also suggests an intention to cultivate promising mid-level managers internally rather than solely relying on specific senior experts.

IT, Security, and Logistics Show Parallel Demand for Experienced Technical Professionals

Apart from the major trends in beauty and chemicals, the recruitment data also confirms ongoing demand for experienced professionals in the IT and security fields. Numerous openings are for highly experienced individuals, including Security Solution Engineers (10-15 years of experience), Offensive Security sales representatives (7-15 years of experience), and Smart Factory Technical Sales Team Leaders/Executives. Concurrently, there are also recruitments for backend developers (3+ years of experience) at logistics IT startups and Java full-stack developer freelancers.

The open recruitment of individuals with over 10 years of experience in the security sector indicates a strategy focused on securing immediately deployable specialized talent rather than developing it internally. This also highlights the growing talent shortage faced by related companies as cybersecurity threats expand across all industries.

'Expertise' is the Common Keyword Amidst Diversifying Recruitment Landscape

The common element permeating the recruitment notices observed in this data is the high level of demand for professional expertise. Regardless of the industry – whether it be math, English, or Korean instructors in education, body therapists and oriental medicine clinic consultants in healthcare and wellness, or RD and designers in interior design – most of the demand is for experienced professionals or specialists, presupposing practical experience in their respective fields.

In terms of regional distribution, the concentration in the Seoul Metropolitan Area (Seoul and Gyeonggi) persists. However, some recruitment notices from major cities like Busan and Daegu have also been spotted, suggesting a gradual expansion in markets outside the capital region. The simultaneous increase in hiring demand for luxury retail, manufacturing personnel for overseas assignments, and specialized technical roles as we enter the second half of the year indicates that the differentiated recovery speeds across industries are directly reflected in the employment market.
