Nobel laureate in Chemistry John Jumper, vice president at Google DeepMind, is joining Anthropic. Jumper announced on his X (formerly Twitter) account that he is leaving Google DeepMind after approximately nine years. He was a key figure in developing the AI model 'AlphaFold' for protein structure prediction alongside Demis Hassabis, CEO of DeepMind.

Following the departure of Noam Shazeer, a co-developer of Gemini, to OpenAI, concerns are growing over Google's weakened competitiveness in the AI field due to this key talent drain.

OpenAI is emerging as a major player in the industry with ChatGPT, while Anthropic is gaining attention with Claude, positioning them as two leading companies. DeepMind employees have recently expressed concerns that the company lacks clear solutions for the demand for AI coding tools.
