Democratic Party Kicks Off National Convention Race, Competition for Lee Jae-myung's Support Heats Up
The Democratic Party has officially entered the race to elect its new leader ahead of its national convention on August 17th. Candidates for the next party leader will be selected through this convention.
Securing the support of former leader Lee Jae-myung has emerged as a critical task for the candidates. Lee Jae-myung stated, "We must focus on language of responsibility rather than language of conviction."
Meanwhile, some within the Democratic Party acknowledged a lack of coordination between the president and the party leader on contentious issues such as prosecutorial reform.
