Ethiopian Kagnew Choir of 34 Visits Korea; LG Fully Sponsors Visit by Descendants of War Veterans
The 'Kagnew Choir,' composed of 34 descendants of Ethiopian Kagnew Battalion veterans who fought in the Korean War, will visit Korea. LG is fully sponsoring the entire stay for a total of 35 people, including the Kagnew Choir and Tesfaye Asmamaw, a Korean War veteran, covering costs such as airfare and accommodation.
The Kagnew Choir will stay in Korea for 36 days starting from the 22nd, participating in veteran commemoration events and cultural exchange activities. The choir will attend the 'International Veterans and Peace Project Concert' held at the National Assembly on the 24th. On the 25th, they will participate in the '76th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemoration Ceremony' in Suwon. On the same day, they will lead the singing of the national anthem at the professional baseball game between the LG Twins and the Samsung Lions at Jamsil Baseball Stadium. The Kagnew Choir will conclude their schedule with a performance for 'UN Korean War Veterans Day' on July 27th.
Ethiopia was the only African nation to dispatch ground troops during the Korean War. The Kagnew Battalion recorded 253 battles fought and 253 victories on the Korean frontlines. The Kagnew Battalion's participation resulted in 122 fatalities and 536 injuries.
