NVIDIA Launches AI Safety System for Industrial Robots
NVIDIA has unveiled a new artificial intelligence (AI) safety system, 'NVIDIA Halos for Robotics,' designed to help robots collaborate more safely with humans in industrial settings. Halos for Robotics aims to provide a standardized safety architecture before physical AI—capable of sensing, deciding, and acting in the real world—operates near people.
“Physical AI is transforming how factories, warehouses, and logistics operations work, and robotics teams need an integrated safety architecture to scale autonomous systems in these environments,” said Deepu Talla, vice president of Robotics and Edge AI at NVIDIA. “With NVIDIA Halos for Robotics, developers and system builders can leverage NVIDIA’s proven autonomous vehicle safety foundation to develop safer robots faster and deploy them with greater confidence alongside workers in industrial operations.”
NVIDIA Halos for Robotics operates across multiple layers of robot safety. NVIDIA IGX Thor and NVIDIA Holoscan Sensor Bridge provide industrial-grade AI compute for real-time robotics and safety workloads, built-in safety features, and sensor connectivity. NVIDIA Halos OS provides the software stack for robotics safety, including Halos Core, which supports safety-related operational functions.
