Following the collapse of the Seoul Seosomun Overpass, the government will conduct urgent safety inspections on 115 aging bridges nationwide that are at high risk, from June 23 to July 3.

This inspection is being carried out to prevent a recurrence of the Seosomun Overpass collapse that occurred on May 26, and it will meticulously examine the maintenance status, particularly focusing on bridges with low safety ratings (Grade D or E) that require urgent repairs.

The inspections, involving a joint effort by the Ministry of Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Korea Infrastructure Safety Service, and private experts, will target 115 out of approximately 36,000 public bridges nationwide.
