Presidential Approval Granted for Lee Jin-guk's Appointment as Auditor

President Lee Jae-myung approved the appointment of Lee Jin-guk as a new Auditor on June 26. Lee Jin-guk currently serves as a professor at Ajou University School of Law and previously worked as the first Judicial Policy Secretary at the Presidential Office.

The Board of Audit and Inspection stated that Lee has contributed to the development of the national judicial administration by focusing on procedural legitimacy and human rights protection through various public sector activities, and is expected to play a role in fostering a human rights-friendly audit environment and enhancing the objectivity of audit results.

This marks the fourth appointment of an individual with a Presidential Office background as an Auditor. During the Lee Myung-bak administration, Jin Young-gon, former Senior Secretary for Employment and Welfare, was appointed. During the Roh Moo-hyun administration, Kim Yong-min, former Economic Advisor, was appointed. And during the Moon Jae-in administration, Lee Nam-goo, former Secretary for Public Service Discipline, was appointed as an Auditor.
