On June 29, 2026, a verbal spat erupted at a People Power Party Supreme Council meeting regarding the position of Chairman Jang Dong-hyuk, with Supreme Council member Woo Jae-jun and Supreme Council member Kim Min-soo clashing. At the meeting, Woo Jae-jun demanded Chairman Jang's resignation, stating, "Even for our party to move forward as one team, he must step down." Woo further urged Jang's resignation, referring to Jang's remarks mentioning himself, Kim Jae-seop, and Kim Yong-tae lawmakers, stating, "Correcting the attacks on the chairman first is about establishing discipline."

In response, Supreme Council member Kim Min-soo retorted, "If you are so responsible and keep talking about the chairman's resignation, then you should resign." Supreme Council member Cho Kwang-han also criticized Woo's remarks as self-serving.

Chairman Jang Dong-hyuk did not react separately during the meeting, but he stated during the closed-door session, "Whatever decision is made at the general assembly, and whatever anyone says at the Supreme Council, I will not resign. Those Supreme Council members who should resign, please do so from this seat." He later confirmed on Facebook, "In the end, no one resigned."

The People Power Party's Ethics Committee is scheduled to hold a full meeting early next week to review disciplinary cases accumulated around the period of the June 3 local elections.
