Jeonju City Council Faces Backlash Over Standing Committee Chair Monopoly

In Jeonju City Council in Jeonbuk, other voices are emerging after the Democratic Party secured all five standing committee chair positions during the council's organizational meeting.

On the 3rd, the Jeonju City Council held the third plenary session of its 432nd extraordinary meeting to elect committee chairpersons and vice-chairpersons. The Democratic Party, holding 26 out of the total 36 seats, claimed all five standing committee chair positions.

The 'Innovation, Progress, Citizen Solidarity' coalition, comprising 10 lawmakers from the Justice Party, the Progressive Party, and independent members, condemned the Democratic Party for forcing through a monopolistic organizational structure that did not allocate any standing committee chair positions to other parties.
