Hong Joon-pyo Urges Support for Honam Region Semiconductor Plant Construction

Former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo urged support for a plan to establish an 800 trillion won semiconductor factory in the Honam region, calling it a significant new opportunity and immense benefit for the nation.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel on the 4th, Hong stated that investing in semiconductors in Honam, a region historically focused on agriculture, is a meaningful endeavor that would contribute to balanced national development and foster new growth engine industries.

He argued that it is right to support, rather than oppose, the plan, which is being pursued as a national land redevelopment and balanced development project, and stressed that it should not be turned into a political dispute.
