The special counsel team led by Kwon Chang-young, which is investigating allegations of Presidential Office interference in prosecutorial investigations, lifted the travel ban on Prosecutor Park Sang-yong, who led the investigation during the remittances to North Korea case. In April, the special counsel team imposed travel bans on Prosecutor Park, Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon, who was Justice Minister at the time, and former Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok, and began the investigation. However, during the travel ban period, the special counsel team did not conduct a single investigation of the relevant suspects or witnesses, and there were administrative gaps, such as the replacement of personnel due to the defense experience of the special counsel senior official in charge during the investigation process.

Prosecutor Park had previously raised concerns of potential human rights violations, stating that he had been subjected to a travel ban for three months without a single investigation.

Currently, the travel ban period for lawmaker Han Dong-hoon is set to expire on July 12.
