President Lee to Discuss Warship Construction with Trump, Plans Golf Round

President Lee Jae-myung held a summit with U.S. President Donald Trump, who is currently visiting Turkey, to pursue cooperation on military shipbuilding, and agreed to arrange a future visit to the U.S. and a golf round. Kang Yu-jeong, the senior presidential spokesperson for the Blue House, announced in a briefing that the two leaders met during a dinner in Ankara.

The two leaders previously discussed the feasibility of rapidly building 10 U.S. warships, a topic raised by President Trump during the G7 summit in Evian, France, last month on the 16th. This meeting marks their reunion approximately three weeks later, serving as a follow-up discussion to that request.

The two leaders decided to pursue President Lee’s visit to the U.S. to realize the golf round promised during the G7 dinner at an appropriate time, and agreed to discuss ways to strengthen their friendship during the process.
