Sentencing for Ex-SSS Chief Park Jong-jun and Others Charged with Obstructing CAA Warrant Execution
The Seoul Central District Court will deliver its verdict at 2 p.m. on the 9th regarding former Presidential Security Service (PSS) chief Park Jong-jun, former vice chief Kim Sung-hoon, former security division chief Lee Kwang-woo, and former family security division chief Kim Shin, who are charged with obstructing the execution of a Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) arrest warrant against former President Yoon Suk Yeol.
At the same time, the Supreme Court will hold a ruling on the appellate review of former President Yoon's case. The court accepted the special counsel's request for a live broadcast, allowing the proceedings to be televised.
Former President Yoon was referred to trial on charges of mobilizing PSS staff to obstruct the CIO's warrant execution in January of last year, as well as infringing on the martial law deliberation rights of nine State Council members at the time of the martial law declaration. The first trial sentenced him to five years in prison, while the second trial sentenced him to seven years.
