PM Han Seong-suk: 'In the AI Era, We Will Build a Government Where the People Are Sovereign'… Urges Preparation for Heavy Rains
The government has announced plans to officially provide artificial intelligence (AI) services for the public and issued instructions to thoroughly conduct safety checks to prevent accidents caused by heavy rainfall. Prime Minister Han Seong-suk, while chairing the National Policy Coordination Meeting at the Government Complex Seoul on the 9th, expressed her commitment to building a 'government where the people are sovereign and create things together in the AI era.'
Prime Minister Han defined the second year of the Lee Jae-myung administration as a period that must yield tangible, visible results. She expressed her determination to create new possibilities amidst change while proactively managing anxiety and risks.
To this end, the government plans to expand 'On-AI,' an AI system that boosts work efficiency in administrative fields, to 47 central administrative agencies by the end of the year and open 100 key public datasets required by the people. Prime Minister Han emphasized the development of a Korean AI exposure index, the establishment of a monitoring system, and the expansion of vocational training support to respond to changes in industrial structure.
Additionally, she ordered the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and related agencies to inspect their safety management systems in preparation for international aviation safety evaluations. Prime Minister Han urged the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, related ministries, and local governments to reconfirm their facilities and on-site response systems, focusing on areas with high damage risks, in line with heavy rain forecasts.
