Middle Schooler Under 14 Stabs Resident in Guri; Police Launch Investigation

Police have launched an investigation after a middle school student under the age of 14 stabbed a woman in her 40s with a weapon at an apartment complex in Guri, Gyeonggi Province.

On the 8th at around 8 p.m., A, who is under 14, swung a weapon at B, a woman in her 40s, at an apartment in Galmae-dong. Police dispatched to the scene arrested A as a red-handed offender. During the investigation, police confirmed that A and the victim, B, were strangers.

B suffered injuries to her shoulder and underwent treatment, including suturing, but her life is not reported to be in danger.

Deeming A—a juvenile under 14 who is not subject to criminal punishment—to be showing signs of mental instability, police placed him under emergency hospitalization and are investigating the exact motive and circumstances of the crime.
