Rivers in the Chungbuk region overflowed and flood damage followed after two days of heavy downpours. Heavy rain fell in Cheongju's Cheongnamdae (235.5mm), Boeun (234.2mm), and Jeungpyeong (200mm), with Boeun-gun receiving over 78mm of rain in just one hour early this morning.

Rising water levels in the Musimcheon River in Cheongjo partially submerged roads, and a flood warning is in effect for Hwanhwi Bridge on the Byeongcheoncheon River. Flood advisories are also active at six locations, including Palgyeol Bridge on the Miho River in Cheongju, while the Goesan Dam is discharging over 1,000 tons of water per second downstream.

An evacuation order was issued around 8:30 a.m. after the Suseokcheon River in Seokhwa-ri, Gangnae-myeon, Cheongju, overflowed. About 200 residents from some 20 towns and villages in Cheongju and Boeun evacuated to village community centers and senior centers.

Dozens of vehicles at an outdoor parking lot in Sinseong-dong, Cheongju, were submerged. The Chungbuk Fire Department received 315 reports of rain-related damage, including fallen trees, poor drainage, and soil runoff, while 18 hectares of farmland were inundated across five cities and counties, including Cheongju, Boeun, and Jincheon.

All heavy rain warnings for the Chungbuk region were lifted this afternoon.
