PPP Leader Jang Dong-hyeok Strongly Criticizes Gwangju Police Chief for Refusing Meeting

People Power Party (PPP) Leader Jang Dong-hyeok visited the Gwangju Police Agency on the 9th to address allegations of a cover-up in the investigation of the 'Jang Yoon-ki incident,' but launched a strong critique of the police after failing to meet Commissioner Kim Young-geun. Jang condemned the police, stating, 'The reality of the police is covering up their own, downplaying incidents, and destroying evidence,' and added, 'The chief has run away.'

During the process, Jang's entourage engaged in a standoff with police officials for approximately one hour.

Leader Jang had originally planned to meet with new Prime Minister Han Duck-soo but changed his schedule to visit the Gwangju Police Agency. The visit was not a pre-coordinated official event, and the meeting with Commissioner Kim Young-geun could not take place as he was away inspecting heavy rain damage sites.
