Han Dong-hoon calls for legislative probe into when police and Reform Party became aware of pre-election stunt

Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon urged an investigation and a fact-finding mission regarding whether the police and his affiliated party were aware in advance that Reform Party candidate Jeong Ih-han's knife attack was a staged incident during the June 3 local elections. "The police and the Reform Party must clarify exactly when they became aware of this fact," Han said on the 10th.

As evidence, he cited the fact that former candidate Jeong and his accomplice, identified only by his surname Yoon, admitted to the crime during police questioning in mid-May, two weeks before the local elections.

He further added that if the police and the Reform Party were aware of the crime prior to the election but failed to disclose it and did not withdraw the candidate, they bear responsibility for infringing upon the voting rights of Busan citizens.
