President Lee Jae-myung will preside over a real estate debate held on the 23rd, directly presenting key issues such as the differentiation of holding taxes between actual residents and multi-homeowners, which has drawn attention to the direction of the comprehensive measures to be announced this month. President Lee proposed the differentiation of holding taxes for single-homeowner residents and multi-homeowners as a focal point of the debate.

The government plans to broadly gather public opinion on real estate supply, finance, and tax systems, starting with this debate. Public discussions led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Financial Services Commission, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance will be held four times, covering topics such as real estate supply, finance, and taxation. The government will also operate online channels to gather opinions from citizens unable to attend the debates.

Policy Office Chief Kim Yong-beom revealed that they are reviewing real estate tax reform plans based on research studies and overseas cases. The goals include achieving housing stability and tax fairness, as well as alleviating market rigidities and revitalizing transactions in the real estate market.
