Prosecutors have booked and launched an investigation into the Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station Chief, identified only by his surname Kim, and Criminal Section Chief Park, who led the investigation during the 'Jang Yun-gi incident,' on charges of 'destroying evidence and assisting in the act.' Through search and seizure operations, prosecutors secured data from Chief Kim's computer and formally designated him as a suspect regarding evidence destruction. Section Chief Park is suspected of intervening in the case referral process even after being transferred to another department during regular personnel reshuffling. With this development, the number of police officers booked in connection to collusion suspicions—including the Station Chief, Criminal Section Chief, Investigation Team Leader, and a team member—has risen to a total of four.

The investigation team for the Jang Yun-gi case failed to confiscate cable ties, key evidence for proving intent to commit sexual crimes, and belatedly submitted relevant investigation reports.

The National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency investigated Sergeant Kim, an investigation team member known to be close to Jang Yun-gi's father, on charges of leaking details of the mandatory investigation to the father via phone calls on multiple occasions. It has been revealed that Jang Yun-gi's father recently voluntarily submitted his mobile phone to the police after deleting all recorded files.
