Job Approval at 52%... Disapproval at 37%, Gap of 15%p, Down 1%p

A Gallup Korea poll found that 52% of respondents rated the President’s job performance positively. Negative ratings stood at 37%, while 11% expressed no opinion or reserved judgment.

President Job Approval and Economic Outlook

The positive response indicating the President is doing a good job stands at 52%. The negative response stating he is doing a poor job accounts for 37%. The proportion of those who do not know or withheld their opinion was around 11%.

Regarding the economic outlook for the next year, a pessimistic view that the economy will worsen was highest at 37%. Those who believe the economy will improve stood at 34%. Responses that the economy would remain similar to the current state stayed at 25%. The numerical difference between economic outlook comparison items shows a close race within the margin of error.

Party Support Status

In the party support survey, the Democratic Party recorded a support rate of 40%. The People Power Party received 26% support. The 14 percentage point gap between the two parties indicates a statistically significant difference.

The proportion of those with no party affiliation (independents) was found to be 28%.

Comparison of Weekly Opinion Poll Trends

Positive job approval ratings have shown a consistent downward trend over the past few weeks. Positive approval, which was 54% in the July 2 survey, fell to 53% on July 9 and has now fallen to 52% in this survey, marking a third consecutive decline. During the same period, negative ratings rose 1 percentage point from 36% to 37%. The 'no opinion' rate increased 1 percentage point from 10% to 11%.

In terms of party support, the Democratic Party fell from 41% on July 2 to 40% in this survey. The People Power Party maintained a 26% support rate during the same period. The proportion of independents rose sharply from 25% to 28%. The 3 percentage point increase in independents is the most notable change in this week's trends.

Compared to the previous survey conducted on July 9, positive approval fell 1 percentage point while negative approval rose 2 percentage points. Support for the Democratic Party fell from 42% to 40%, while the People Power Party rose 2 percentage points from 24% to 26%. During this period, independents also saw a 2 percentage point increase from 26% to 28%.
