MBC Obtains Recording Revealing Prosecutors Led Witness During Choi Jae-yeong Investigation

An analysis of the recording obtained by MBC revealed that prosecutors appeared to ask 'suggestive questions,' leading the interviewee to a predetermined answer by asking, 'This isn't a solicitation, is it?' It is understood that prosecutors omitted statements regarding the solicitation linked to the background of the monetary gift from the official record, focusing only on whether there was a connection to official duties. The police statement did not include claims that there was an intent to solicit; instead, it documented questions and answers regarding the awareness of any connection to official duties.

Pastor Choi Jae-yeong's side explained that it became difficult to maintain the stance that there was a solicitation given the direction of the investigation.

The prosecution rebutted the claim, arguing that the investigation process was video-recorded and that Pastor Choi reviewed and signed the statement, asserting that there was no leading of the witness.
