Tongyeong Mayoral Recount Results Delayed Until Late Night as Former Mayor Cheon's Side Raises Objections

A recount regarding the invalidation of the election of the mayor of Tongyeong, Gyeongnam, began on the afternoon of the 27th at the Gyeongnam Provincial Election Commission; however, the compilation of results extended late into the night due to objections raised by the petitioner's side.

At the recount site on the 27th, regarding the sealing of ballot boxes, the petitioner's side stated that "there were inadequacies in the sealing of the ballot paper storage boxes," while the respondent, the Tongyeong City Election Commission, replied that "there were no problems with the sealing status."

Due to the dispute between both sides, the ballot paper storage boxes were opened at around 3:25 PM, approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes later than the scheduled time of 2:00 PM, and the final results are expected to be compiled late into the night.
