Gwangju Seo-gu Expands Welfare Programs Across Life Stages

Gwangju's Seo-gu District is expanding its customized welfare programs tailored to different life stages, aiming to support youth independence, create a healthy environment for childbirth, and protect children's rights. Through these initiatives, the district plans to build a comprehensive welfare safety net encompassing residents' entire lives and improve living conditions within the community.

As part of its youth policies, Seo-gu will finalize the selection of 190 recipients for the 'Youth Tomorrow Savings Account' program in August, designed to aid young people in achieving financial independence. Once selected, participants who save 100,000 won or more monthly will receive an additional 300,000 won in government incentives, assisting them in building assets over three years.

Applications for the eco-friendly agricultural product support program for expectant mothers will be accepted until August 14th. Eligible applicants include mothers who have given birth on or after January 1, 2025, and women who are currently pregnant. Selected individuals will receive approximately 240,000 won worth of eco-friendly agricultural products annually.

To ensure the rights of children and adolescents, the 'Child Rights Ombudsmen Mobile Platform' has been launched. This platform enhances accessibility with simple question formats, photo attachments, and anonymous submission options. Submitted content will be reviewed by the Child Rights Ombudsmen, who will then recommend improvements to relevant departments. The opinions collected from children through the mobile platform will serve as foundational data for policy development.

Seo-gu District Mayor Kim Yi-gang stated, "Supporting youth independence, fostering a healthy environment for childbirth, and safeguarding children's rights are fundamental administrative duties."
