Democratic Party Leadership Race: Jeong Cheong-rae and Kim Min-seok Vie for Top Spot in Polls
As the race for the Democratic Party leadership heats up ahead of the national convention, candidates Jeong Cheong-rae and Kim Min-seok are locked in a tight battle for the lead in opinion polls. On the 30th, candidates concentrated on local field visits to secure regional support.
A survey released on the 30th, conducted by four polling agencies—Embrain Public, KStat Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research—between the 27th and 29th on 1,000 adults nationwide showed Jeong Cheong-rae leading with 21% suitability for the next party leader, followed by Kim Min-seok at 19%, and Song Young-gil at 6%. The race is effectively a statistical tie given the margin of error.
Among Democratic Party supporters, Kim led with 34%, outpacing Jeong at 29%, while Song trailed with 9%.
