Candidate Jeong Cheong-rae Wins Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam Primaries

In the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (Bugulgyeong) regional primary held on the 2nd to select the new leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, candidate Jeong Cheong-rae defeated candidate Kim Min-seok to claim victory. The win in the Bugulgyeong region is expected to influence the momentum of the primary race; as the final candidate selection outcome may shift depending on the remaining regional vote results, the competition is expected to remain intense until the national convention.

Due to the nature of the regional tour primaries, the results currently released are limited to the vote count of official party members. Specific results from delegates and the general public, excluding official party members, will be announced at the national convention in Daejeon on the 17th, following the completion of all regional primaries.

Accordingly, the remaining vote results that will determine the final election outcome will not be disclosed until the time of the national convention, placing the spotlight on the remaining primary schedule and the announcement procedure.
