LS ELECTRIC, GS Engineering & Construction Partner for AI Data Center Power Market
LS ELECTRIC and GS Engineering & Construction have joined forces to preempt the next-generation AI data center market. The two companies signed an MOU on the 10th, agreeing to link AI data center construction with power equipment supply and jointly develop next-generation DC power distribution technology to reduce power conversion loss.
AI data centers consume significant power and generate substantial heat due to the operation of high-performance Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), making DC power distribution, which minimizes energy loss by reducing conversion stages, a key technology. LS ELECTRIC has commercialized related products such as Semiconductor Switchboards (SST) and Semiconductor Circuit Breakers (SSCB), and has experience supplying solutions to large data centers of major US tech companies.
Through this collaboration, LS ELECTRIC will supply core power equipment such as switchboards, Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), and extra-high voltage transformers for GS Engineering & Construction's data center projects. This aims to maximize competitiveness in project acquisition by combining GS Engineering & Construction's design and construction capabilities with LS ELECTRIC's power technology.
A spokesperson for LS ELECTRIC stated, "The power supply method for AI data centers is rapidly shifting to DC distribution," adding, "We will lead the global power infrastructure market in cooperation with GS Engineering & Construction, leveraging our solutions proven in the North American market and our next-generation technologies."
