NDP's Chun Ha-ram Enters Nonsan Training Center After Buzz Cut
Chun Ha-ram, the floor leader of the Reform New Party and a member of the National Defense Committee, received a haircut on the 12th and entered the Army Training Center in Nonsan, Chungnam, to undergo three days of basic training identical to that of ordinary recruits. This marks the first time for an incumbent lawmaker to do so. In an interview with CBS Radio, Floor Leader Chun stated that the goal was to experience the current military reality firsthand, rather than relying solely on past military experience, in order to craft policies that are grounded in reality.
Floor Leader Chun arrived at the 27th Recruit Training Regiment after getting his hair cut at the National Assembly barbershop earlier that day. On the first day, he will be issued combat uniforms and equipment alongside regular trainees and prepare for training in the barracks. The schedule includes waking up at dawn, simulated wartime drills, comprehensive individual combat training, a 20-kilometer night march, and guard duty. He is scheduled to complete all courses following a warrior's oath ceremony on the 14th.
This training is expected to set a new direction for defense policy discussions by having an incumbent lawmaker personally experience barracks life. Floor Leader Chun's experience is projected to be directly reflected in his future activities with the National Defense Committee, exerting a tangible influence on the welfare of soldiers and the improvement of military living conditions.
