Hanwha Systems to Develop AI 5G Tactical Communications System with TTA
Hanwha Systems is teaming up with TTA to accelerate the development of next-generation AI tactical communications. The two organizations signed an agreement on the 13th to pursue the development of military communication technology that seamlessly connects terrestrial communication networks with non-terrestrial networks based on satellites and aircraft, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI).
This collaboration aims to enhance compatibility with foreign militaries and bolster the competitiveness of Korea's defense industry by reflecting international mobile communication (3GPP) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) communication standards from the early stages of development. The partnership will combine Hanwha Systems' experience in military communications development with TTA's capabilities in civil standardization and certification, intending to secure battlefield security and survivability while actively utilizing the speed and scalability of civilian technologies.
Furthermore, they will jointly develop 'MOSS,' a multi-layered communication solution that integrates mobile 5G base stations, satellite terminals, and military command and control systems into a single platform.
A Hanwha Systems official stated, "We will contribute to strengthening global competitiveness by advancing the Republic of Korea Army's hyper-connected tactical communication network and enhancing our responsiveness to international standardization."
