Kimhae Delegation Visits Lakewood, USA, to Strengthen Sister City Ties
To mark the 30th anniversary of the incorporation of Lakewood, Washington, USA, Kimhae City visited the region to solidify friendship and cooperation between the two cities. At the official invitation of Lakewood, Kimhae visited from the 11th to the 15th to attend the incorporation anniversary events and the representative festival, '2026 SummerFEST.' The city announced on the 16th that during the visit, they discussed cooperation in cultural and youth sectors and showcased traditional Korean dance and K-Pop performances. The delegation included a total of eight participants: four city officials, including Kimhae City Council Vice Chairman Jeong Jun-ho, and four performers.
The relationship between Kimhae and Lakewood began with a friendship city agreement in 2007. After maintaining exchanges, the relationship was elevated to a sister city partnership in 2022, and the two cities have continued mutual visits by delegations and cultural exchanges.
A Kimhae City official stated that the 30th-anniversary event served as an opportunity to firmly establish friendly cooperation between the two cities. The official added that they plan to expand exchanges into diverse fields, including youth and economics, based on cultural exchange, to further develop the sister city relationship.
