Despite Samsung Electronics announcing the largest shareholder return plan in its history, the stock price fell approximately 4% from the close in after-hours trading, changing hands in the 270,000 won range. In after-hours trading, Samsung Electronics effectively gave back the gains it had posted in the previous regular session.

Han Ji-young, a researcher at Kiwoom Securities, analyzed, "It appears that some profit-taking selling occurred," adding, "There were expectations in some corners for over 100 trillion won, so it seems there was a sense that the announcement fell slightly short of that."

Samsung Electronics decided to pay approximately 30 trillion won in cash dividends starting immediately this quarter, with the specific return method for the remaining amount to be determined by the board of directors in January of next year. Through a separate disclosure, the company emphasized that it would pursue share buybacks and cancellations alongside cash dividends.

Jung Yong-taek, Chief Research Fellow at IBK Investment Securities, pointed out, "The large-scale shareholder return was already priced in, and for the stock to rise further and 'level up,' there is a need for a gradual recovery in expectations regarding the business outlook and AI investments."

After experiencing significant correction phases, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have recently been continuing their upward trends. Following the consecutive announcements of large-scale return policies, the regular trading session opens next week.
