The Ministry of Justice announced on the 23rd that the professional psychological therapy system introduced in correctional facilities has yielded results over the past decade in healing inmates' minds and preventing the recurrence of crime.

Previously, on the 22nd, the Ministry of Justice gathered members of the Korean Psychological Association and experts at the COEX Magok Convention Center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Under the theme 'Finding the Path to Recidivism Prevention in Psychology: 10 Years of Correctional Psychological Therapy and Its Future,' the ministry held a special symposium to discuss operational cases, treatment effectiveness, and future tasks.

Since establishing the Psychology Counseling Division in 2016, the Ministry of Justice has introduced various programs, including psychological therapy for responding to deepfake sex crimes, VR therapy, and family therapy for juvenile inmates.

Lee Hong-yeon, Head of the Correctional Bureau, remarked that this event served as an opportunity to review the achievements of the past decade and design the future. He stated, "Through cooperation with the academic community, we will build a treatment system capable of proactively responding to the changing crime environment and strive to prevent recidivism."
