Heat is the real problem, more so than using the phone while charging. Keeping the screen on or using light messaging apps while the cable is connected is not critical, as internal circuits safely separate power supply from usage. The real issue is high heat. Wireless charging generates more heat than wired charging due to physical energy loss during power transmission via magnetic coils.
