Rain Clears, Heatwave Returns to Southern Regions... Crowds Flock to Beaches on Final Day

As the sweltering heat returned to the southern regions where the rain had stopped, crowds of vacationers flocked to the beaches on the last day of operations. The sea and beaches beneath Gwangandaegyo Bridge were bustling with visitors on paddle boards and tubes, with many expressing surprise that the heat remained oppressive despite expectations that it would have broken by this time.

In parts of the Yeongnam and Honam regions, daytime temperatures neared 34 degrees Celsius, and the humidity following the rain made it feel even hotter than the actual reading. Bae Gyeong-rin, visiting from Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, remarked that rather than cooling down, the humidity only rose after the rain, making her tired simply from walking.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast that the sweltering weather, with a maximum apparent temperature of around 33 degrees Celsius, will persist in the southern regions for the time being, accompanied by tropical nights.
