Han Dong-hoon, under attack from PPP mainstream, says "I'm fighting 200 people alone"
Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon said at a press conference at the National Assembly on the 13th, regarding his offensive over allegations that Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won lobbied for a COVID-19 drug, "Right now 200 people are fighting against me alone." Addressing the ruling-party faction aligned with People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk (the 'pro-Jang Dong-hyuk' group), he said, "Stop interfering and go beat the drum instead." Han said, "There's the Democratic Party, plus about 10 members of Jang Dong-hyuk's ruling faction, so combined that's 200 people. I'll keep posting on Facebook — not 50 posts a day, but 5,000 if I have to." He added, "Many in the People Power Party agree with this cause and are working hard. If you won't fight alongside me, then help the Democratic Party and stop interfering — go bang the king drum," responding to criticism that his dozens of daily Facebook posts were excessive.
His remark to "go beat the drum" referenced PPP leader Jang Dong-hyuk's recent visits to the handball stadium at Seoul's Olympic Park in Songpa-gu, the site of repeated protests against the ballot counting, where he played the drum.
Criticism from the faction continued. Jo Kwang-han, a Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, blasted it as "an overly frivolous and immature act." PPP spokesperson Park Min-young said, "He's now a pitiful sight, ending up getting beaten back after leaking internal prosecutorial materials."
Earlier, Han wrote on Facebook that he would, in effect, "pull out all the teeth" of Democratic Party leader Kim Min-seok and Democratic lawmakers, prompting the party to fire back that "these are not words one uses toward National Assembly members."
