52 Foreign Nationals Arrested for Smuggling Meth Hidden in Traditional Clothing via International Mail

Police have arrested 52 foreign nationals on charges of smuggling methamphetamine hidden inside traditional clothing through international mail and distributing it. Since February of last year, the suspects are accused of distributing the drug across regions densely populated by foreign workers, including North Gyeongsang, Gyeonggi, South Gyeongsang, and Ulsan.

The smuggled methamphetamine totaled 3.5 kilograms, with an estimated street value of 10 billion won. Some users were found to have taken the drug just before work or even during work hours.

Police detained nine people, including a Thai ringleader, while booking the remaining 43 without arrest. A red notice was issued through Interpol for one local ringleader believed to be in Thailand. Police are continuing their investigation into the entire organization through Interpol cooperation procedures.
