Kim Min-seok makes discussions of impeaching Chief Justice Cho official
Democratic Party leader Kim Min-seok said on the party's YouTube program 'Minti 07' on the 16th that, regarding the impeachment of Chief Justice Cho Hee-de, "we have begun discussions with every method and every possible route on the table." Kim said, "There are already broad demands for impeachment."
Rep. Kim Ki-pyo and Rep. Park Gyu-taek, both members of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, also appeared on the same program 'Minti 07' and argued for the need to impeach Chief Justice Cho. Rep. Kim pointed out that the chief justice had remarked during a National Assembly audit that the Assembly's oversight of the Chief Justice's power to recommend justices was unconstitutional, saying, "The grounds for impeachment are more than enough." He added, "We must impeach him unconditionally, now, in this very moment."
Rep. Park Gyu-taek argued that the chief justice's denial of the constitutional provision on the president's appointment power and his refusal to be sworn in as a witness during the government audit "could sufficiently constitute grounds for impeachment." Park said, "He should be impeached. At the very least, it is time to review it."
