Two Men in Their 20s Arrested for Smashing ATM and Stealing 5.7 Million Won

Gimhae Jungbu Police Station said on the 19th that it had arrested two men in their 20s on charges including theft for smashing an ATM installed at a convenience store and stealing 5.7 million won in cash. The two men were arrested after breaking an ATM outside a convenience store in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province, and stealing the 5.7 million won inside.

The men are accused of using tools they had prepared in advance to smash the ATM outside a convenience store in Gimhae at around 9:40 p.m. on the 29th of last month and taking the cash inside. Police investigations revealed that they committed the crime late at night after business hours, targeting a time when foot traffic was low and surveillance lax. Most of the stolen money is believed to have been spent on nightlife and entertainment.

Police analyzed closed-circuit television footage from the area and apprehended the two men one after another. Police have been conducting a intensive crackdown on robbery and theft from last month through this month.
