The face, name, and other personal details of a man in his 40s who murdered a woman after she reported him for stalking are set to be made public. The Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency held a meeting of its expert review committee on the 2nd and decided to disclose his identity. Police had previously withheld the disclosure out of respect for the family's wishes and concerns over secondary harm (additional harm or blame directed at the victim's side), but convened the meeting after the bereaved family expressed their desire for disclosure.

Suspect A is accused of assaulting and strangling to death his ex-girlfriend, a woman in her 40s identified as B, at a house in Jung-gu, Daejeon, on the 24th of last month. B was reportedly killed by A, who tracked her down, even after she had filed a stalking report.

However, because A has filed an objection to the disclosure decision, a grace period of at least five days is required under relevant law, and the actual disclosure can only take place after the 9th. Police plan to refer the case to prosecutors on the 3rd, when A's detention period expires.
