PPP Denounces Next Year's Budget as 'Plundering the Future,' Vows to Slash Fund
The People Power Party has launched an all-out offensive against the Lee Jae-myung government's budget proposal for next year, denouncing it as a 'declaration of plundering the future.'
The party has threatened to cut the portion of the budget that would use the entire Future Response Fund (a 104-trillion-won fund set up by the government to cover a revenue shortfall) on national debt repayment. The PPP argues that while the fund is nominally reserved for the future, it would in reality be used to plug immediate fiscal shortfalls.
The party's demand for cuts will be addressed during the budget review process, including at the National Assembly's Special Committee on Budget and Accounts.
