Dongtan Tram Breaks Ground on Early Construction Section

Construction has begun on the early construction section of the Dongtan Tram, a project pursued by Hwaseong City. The Dongtan Tram is a light rail transit (small-scale railway) designed to facilitate travel within the Dongtan area. As this groundbreaking marks a step ahead of the main construction set to begin in August 2027, traffic improvements have moved one step closer.

The early construction section refers to work carried out preemptively ahead of the main construction phase.

With this groundbreaking, the Dongtan Tram project has moved beyond the design and planning stages and entered the on-site construction phase. Hwaseong City, the entity leading the project, has also confirmed a schedule to proceed sequentially from the early construction section to the main construction phase.
