Allegations have surfaced that Laura Loomer, an influencer close to U.S. President Donald Trump, was paid to post political content on social media. The Washington Post (WP) reported the story on Monday (local time).

Loomer is a pro-Trump figure with roughly 1.9 million followers on X (formerly Twitter). Known to be able to communicate directly with President Trump, she has held private meetings in the White House Oval Office. She also publicly criticized National Security Council (NSC) staff members, after which some of them were dismissed.

Loomer has denied the allegations. She countered that she was paid only for compiling and distributing research materials at the request of the Brutschevich side, not in exchange for posting on social media. She also said claims that she charged $5,000 per post were untrue.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires influencers who receive payment to promote products to disclose the relevant facts, but political advertising falls outside its jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, following the WP report, Loomer announced she would temporarily suspend her online show to focus on rest and wedding preparations. She explained that the hiatus was a previously planned schedule, unrelated to the allegations.
