Prime Minister Kim Orders Full Response to Daejeon Factory Fire

A fire broke out around 1:17 PM on the afternoon of the 20th at an auto parts manufacturing plant located in Munpyeong-dong, Daedeok-gu, Daejeon. Fire authorities immediately declared Fire Response Level 2 and, with concerns of multiple casualties, issued a National Fire Mobilization Order to commence firefighting operations.

Prime Minister Kim Min-seok responded immediately to the factory fire in Daejeon's Daedeok-gu on the 20th, ordering the full mobilization of available resources for rescue and firefighting. He instructed the Ministry of Interior and Safety and the Fire Department to deploy all possible equipment and personnel to maximize efforts in rescue and suppression. Furthermore, he directed relevant authorities, including the Daejeon Metropolitan City government and the National Police Agency, to implement necessary measures like traffic control and resident evacuation to prevent secondary damage. The Prime Minister also stressed the need to ensure the safety of the firefighting personnel operating at the scene.

As of 2:30 PM, the fire has resulted in a total of 50 casualties, including 35 severe injuries and 15 minor injuries.
