Google Reveals AI Glasses Technology for Instant Fake Photo Generation
Major tech companies, including Google, have showcased technology that allows for real-time image modification using smart glasses. This technology, which combines 'computer vision' – where computers recognize objects in photos like human eyes – with cameras, could change how we take and perceive photos.
Major tech companies like Google, Meta, and Samsung are accelerating the development of AI-powered smart glasses that combine cameras, speakers, voice assistants, and computer vision capabilities. These wearable devices can include navigation and contextual information features along with audio functions, and some products have already been equipped with AI assistants.
Google's Dieter Bohn demonstrated a prototype AI smart glasses, revealing the process of capturing and editing photos using artificial intelligence. During the demonstration, the device was instructed to take a picture of people in a room and then commanded to place them in front of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. The AI generated a new image showing the group standing before the Sagrada Familia within minutes. The individuals in the photo had not actually traveled to Spain; the background was generated by AI. This prototype operated by connecting to generative AI tools like Google Gemini and the experimental image generator Nano Banana.
AI smart glasses are equipped with the ability to instantly generate or modify images. Through hardware combining a camera, speaker, microphone, and AI-powered computer vision, immediate image processing occurred at the point of capture.
