People Power Party Alleges DP Leaked Member List in Primary
The People Power Party's Daejeon City Chapter, in a statement on Thursday, characterized allegations of a leaked party member list during the Democratic Party's primary election for Daedeok-gu district mayor as an issue that shakes the very foundation of nomination fairness, and strongly urged the Democratic Party to take responsible action. The chapter cited media reports indicating allegations of leaked personal information of party members during the DP's Daedeok-gu district mayor primary, highlighting that similar controversies in other regions have led to provincial chapters being designated as 'accident parties.' The chapter stressed that a party's member list is not mere data but its fundamental asset and a core foundation supporting the fairness and credibility of candidate nominations for public office. It further stated that the repeated nature of these leak allegations, escalating into internal conflict and heated competition, is a serious matter that cannot be overlooked.
The chapter designated the situation where member list leak allegations are repeatedly surfacing and escalating into internal conflict and intense competition as an "issue that cannot be overlooked." It pointed out that these personal information controversies, arising just before the primaries, are not merely individual candidates' problems but issues that undermine the transparency and credibility of the entire DP nomination process.
The People Power Party's Daejeon City Chapter criticized the Democratic Party for its complacent response, consistently stating 'there is no problem' and attempting to downplay or cover up the incidents as internal matters without clear investigation. The chapter warned that such a response is tantamount to abandoning nomination fairness, and that nominations lacking fairness will lead to public distrust. It emphasized that the Democratic Party must recognize that unfair nominations and an untrusted party cannot win the public's choice.
Consequently, the People Power Party's Daejeon Metropolitan City Chapter stated that it is monitoring the situation and urged the Democratic Party not to delay taking responsible action any further.
