Foreign Minister Cho Urges Iran to Ensure Strait of Hormuz Safety

South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun spoke with his Iranian counterpart on the 23rd, urging safety in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy transport route, and de-escalation in the Middle East. During the call, Minister Cho expressed deep concern that the recent situation in the Middle East is affecting not only regional but also global security and the economy. Minister Cho called for an end to attacks on civilians and civilian facilities in the Gulf region, and requested Iran's measures to ensure the safety of multinational vessels, including those from South Korea, docked in the Strait of Hormuz.

Minister Cho also requested Iran's special attention and support to ensure the safety of Korean nationals residing in Iran.
