Daejeon's first public long-term care facility, the 'Daejeon Metropolitan City Public Nursing Home,' has opened its doors in Panam-dong, Dong-gu. This marks a first step toward strengthening public care services for the region's seniors and filling gaps in elderly care.

Daejeon City held the opening ceremony for the nursing home on the 26th, with approximately 100 people in attendance, including Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo, Dong-gu District Mayor Park Hee-jo, and local residents. Attendees shared the background of the facility's establishment and toured its main facilities.

The nursing home, built as a three-story facility in Panam-dong, Dong-gu, can accommodate 108 residents and features a total of 36 living quarters, including single rooms and rooms for three to four people. The Daejeon Metropolitan City Public Nursing Home has obtained Barrier-Free (BF) certification for the safe use of the elderly and disabled, and also operates a dedicated dementia care unit.

Eligible applicants are Daejeon citizens who have received a facility care certification for long-term care grades 1 through 5. The first recruitment will be for 48 individuals starting next month, with the remaining capacity to be filled in the second half of this year.
