A North Korean human rights resolution co-sponsored by South Korea was adopted by consensus without a vote at the UN Human Rights Council on the 30th (local time). The resolution has been adopted for 24 consecutive years since 2003, when it was part of the former Commission on Human Rights, and 50 countries, including South Korea, participated as co-sponsors.

South Korea did not participate as a co-sponsor from 2019 to 2022, but returned in 2023.

The resolution condemns North Korea's systematic and widespread human rights violations and crimes against humanity, and urges the implementation of existing resolutions by the UN General Assembly and the Human Rights Council. It also includes humanitarian issues such as calls for the immediate repatriation of abductees and the resumption of separated family reunions, and reflects welcome for North Korea's participation in its fourth Universal Periodic Review (UPR).
