Killer of Mother in Her 50s Identified as Her Daughter and Son-in-Law

Prime suspects in the Daegu Sincheon River 'suitcase body' case, which shocked the local community upon its discovery, have been narrowed down to the victim's own daughter and son-in-law. Police have placed the couple under emergency arrest on charges of murder and body concealment, and are investigating the precise details of the crime.

Responding to the scene, police and fire authorities recovered a large gray suitcase, inside which a decomposed female body was found. After requesting fingerprint and DNA analysis from the National Forensic Service and cross-referencing with missing persons records, police confirmed the victim was a woman in her 50s.

The crucial lead in the investigation came from closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage. While tracking the victim's last known movements, police secured footage of the daughter and son-in-law disposing of the suitcase containing the body near a submerged bridge on the 18th. Based on this evidence, police made the emergency arrest of the pair at their residence around 9 p.m. on the 31st.

A police official stated, "We plan to apply for an arrest warrant after intensively investigating the exact motive for the crime and the specific methods of murder used by the suspects."
